TAWANG, 24 Aug: Horticultural inputs for hybrid vegetable cultivation under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) were distributed to farmers at the district horticulture office here on Monday.

The inputs were distributed as part of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme.

The beneficiary farmers received summer and winter vegetable seed kits, organic manure, organic plant protection chemicals, power knapsack sprayers, and various agricultural tools and implements to support improved vegetable cultivation and enhance farm productivity.

Addressing the farmers, District Horticulture Officer (DHO) Koncho Gyatso highlighted the importance and long-term benefits of organic farming. He encouraged the farmers to adopt sustainable cultivation practices to maintain soil health, produce safer and healthier food, and achieve better agricultural outcomes.

The DHO also briefed the farmers on the VVP and various government initiatives aimed at supporting the farming community, enhancing agricultural productivity, and strengthening rural livelihoods.

Tawang ADC Rinchin Leta urged the farmers to gradually reduce dependence on chemical fertilisers and adopt organic farming practices. He emphasised that organic cultivation would not only safeguard the health of the farmers and consumers but also help preserve soil fertility and the environment for future generations.
