The recent initiative undertaken by the Traffic Police Department to equip all traffic personnel with body worn cameras deserves sincere appreciation and gratitude from the public. At a time when concerns regarding transparency, accountability, and professionalism in enforcement duties have become a major topic of public discussion, this decision reflects a strong commitment towards reform and responsible policing.

The implementation of body worn cameras is not merely a technological upgrade; it is a progressive step towards building public trust and ensuring fair interactions between law enforcement personnel and citizens. Such measures will help maintain discipline on both sides while discouraging misconduct, unnecessary confrontation, and false allegations. It will also strengthen the credibility of sincere and dedicated police personnel who perform their duties honestly under difficult circumstances.

Special appreciation must be extended to the implementing authorities and senior officials, particularly DIGP Tumme Amo, for taking proactive measures to modernise the policing system. The decision to introduce CCTV surveillance systems with night vision capabilities at sensitive check gates and ILP verification points demonstrates visionary leadership and seriousness in addressing public concerns. Real-time monitoring by senior officers will undoubtedly improve supervision and accountability in field operations.

This initiative sends a strong message that the government and police administration are committed to transparent governance, ethical enforcement, and people-friendly policing. At the same time, it reminds citizens that traffic laws and verification procedures are meant for public safety and security, not inconvenience.

The introduction of body worn cameras and advanced surveillance systems will not only improve road discipline and traffic management but will also contribute significantly towards reducing corruption, strengthening lawful conduct, and ensuring professionalism in duty.
