JANG, 10 Sep: In an effort to promote the importance of the Bhoti language, the All Rhebla Gangsum Students' Union (ARGSU) has begun installing school signboards featuring the Bhotiscript, along with English, in the Mukto constituency of Tawang district.

On Wednesday, the inaugural ceremony was held at the Government Upper Primary School, Yuthemnu, in Jang subdivision. The programme was attended by Jang ADC Hakraso Kri, Jang-Thingbu education block cluster resource centre coordinator Dorjee Khandu, and others, who appreciated the initiative.

ARGSU president Rinchen Sangye said that, since school signboards are generally written in English, the initiative aims to promote the importance of the Bhoti language, which is deeply rooted in the community's cultural and spiritual heritage.

In the first phase, the ARGSU has selected 10 schools, ranging from primary to higher secondary level, across the constituency for installation of the signboards.

The union's president expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and the Department of Karmik and Adhyatmik (Chos-Rig) Affairs for their support towards the initiative.
