SEPPA, 12 Jun: As part of the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan, the East Kameng Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) organised agricultural awareness programmes at Sebe and Lumdung villages on Friday.

Forty-six farmers from several nearby villages actively participated in the event.

A KVK expert team, comprising Dr W Purnima Devi, Habung Ganga, A Pandey, and Dr C Nikpo, interacted with the farming community on core campaign themes. The team emphasised on soil health management, balanced use of fertilisers, conservation of agricultural land, and adopting climate-resilient, eco-friendly farming practices.

The farmers were also sensitised to key government welfare schemes, including PM-KISAN, kisan credit card (KCC), soil health card, and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). Additionally, the experts briefed the attendees on the potential impacts of El Niño and the necessary agricultural preparedness required to handle the situation.

The programme concluded with a call to local farmers to adopt scientific methods to ensure long-term productivity and livelihood security.
