TAROYAR, 26 Jun: Thirty-four farmers and farmwomen participated in a Khet Bachao Abhiyan programme organised here in Pakke-Kessang district by Pampoli-based East Kameng Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) on Friday.

Organised in collaboration with the district agriculture office (DAO) team, an intensive awareness-cum-training programme on natural farming was conducted.

The technical sessions were led by a team of subject matter experts, including Dr W Purnima Devi, A Pandey, and Habung Ganga. The experts delivered detailed insights into key agricultural pillars, focusing on soil health management, land conservation, and climate-resilient practices rooted in the principles of natural farming.

Beyond sustainable farming methodologies, the KVK and the DAO team educated the attendees on critical government welfare schemes designed to secure rural livelihoods. Farmers were encouraged to leverage initiatives such as PM-KISAN, the kisan credit card, the soil health card scheme, and the Pradhan MantriFasal Bima Yojana to bridge the gap between traditional practices and scientific, high-productivity farming.

The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which farmers from Taroyar and adjoining villages engaged directly with the experts to address localised agricultural challenges.
