RILLOH, 25 Jun: As part of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan, the East Kameng Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) hosted an agricultural awareness programme on natural farming at Rilloh village on Thursday.
Experts Dr W Purnima Devi, A Pandey, and Dr C Nikpo discussed soil health management, land conservation, and climate-resilient practices based on the principles of natural farming.
The team also educated farmers on government welfare schemes, including PM-KISAN, KCC, soil health card, and PMFBY, encouraging them to adopt scientific farming for long-term productivity and livelihood security.
A total of 22 farmers from Rilloh and adjoining villages joined the programme and interacted with the expert team from the KVK.
Meanwhile, the Agriculture Department in Lower Siang district, in collaboration with the East Siang KVK and Pasighat-based College of Horticulture and Forestry (CHF), organised programmes under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan in various villages of Ramle Banggo.
The camps were organised at Seren, Namey and Nari from 22 to 25 June, and Dr Rakesh Salam from the KVK and CHF Assistant Professor Dr Ajaykumaraa imparted technical know-how to about 150 farmers who attended the programme.
Earlier, a programme on natural farming was also organised at Nari by the Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha, in collaboration with the Agriculture and Allied Department, on 17 June. Around 150 farmers benefitted from the programme.
