YINGKIONG, 11 Aug: The Kuhing Rumne Society (KRS) conducted a cleanliness drive in Gobuk village in Upper Siang district on 11 August.

The drive focused on cleaning the village area, roadside stretches and other public spaces along the highway.

The initiative aimed not only to keep the village clean but also to create awareness among villagers and visitors about the importance of proper waste management and protection of the environment, the organiser said.

Members of the KRS said that maintaining cleanliness is not solely the government's responsibility and requires active participation of the community.

They also highlighted the need to preserve the rich biodiversity of the area and promote responsible and nature-based tourism without compromising the ecological integrity of the village. (DIPRO)
