SEPPA, 18 Jul: East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Yashaswini B, accompanied by SP Shivendu Bhushan, inspected the Laimoya water supply source on Saturday.

The inspection team, accompanied by officers and officials of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), undertook a trek of more than two hours to reach the water source site.

At the site, the deputy commissioner inspected the submerged weir headwork, intake tank, and pre-sedimentation facilities. During the inspection, the executive engineer briefed the team on the prevailing issue of high turbidity in the water source, which has been caused by ongoing road construction activities in the catchment area of the Laimoyo water source.

The deputy commissioner also inspected the water treatment plant to assess the existing infrastructure and operational conditions.

Before concluding the visit, she instructed the PHED to prepare a detailed report along with a cost estimate for the establishment of a rapid sand filtration plant for the Kochi water source. She further directed the department to prepare a proposal for the renovation and upgrading of the Macha water treatment plant.(DIPRO)
