TAWANG, 29 May: Several proposals, including engaging teachers under the PMKKKY to address the shortage of teachers in Tawang district, were approved during a governing council meeting of the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) held here on Friday.

Other proposals approved were appointment of ambulance drivers to enhance emergency healthcare services, engagement of dialysis technicians at the district hospital, and establishment of material recovery facilities in remote Mago and Thingbu villages to improve waste management.

Additionally, the Department of Industries’ proposal seeking support for training programmes on packaging and value addition of locally produced goods was also approved.

Addressing the members, Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo emphasised the importance of prudent and effective utilisation of DMF resources for the development of the district.

 She further stressed the need to maintain quality standards in project execution and appreciated the constructive proposals submitted by the three subdivisions.

The DC directed the departments concerned and the administrative officers to ensure timely completion of pending projects from the previous financial year.

Earlier, Assistant Mineral Development Officer Dorjee Lhamu provided a detailed presentation on the new scheme proposals submitted by the district’s three subdivisions for the 2026-27 FY. Lhamu also highlighted the DMF’s objectives, governance structure, sources of funding, and fund utilisation.

The council deliberated extensively on the proposed schemes, examining their feasibility and potential impact on local communities.

The meeting was attended by Zilla Parishad Chairperson Leki Gombu, Tawang ADC Rinchin Leta, Lungla ADC Tashi Dhondup, Jang ADC (i/c) Honjon Perme, and other council members.

After the meeting, the council’s members felicitated DMO Dr Thupten Lhamu on her retirement from service. (DIPRO)
