ANINI, 24 Aug: A meeting of the District Solid Waste Management Committee (DSWMC) was held here on Monday under the chairmanship of Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Yashwant Meena, bringing together key representatives and stakeholders to deliberate on strengthening solid waste management practices across the district.
The committee held detailed deliberations on source segregation, door-to-door waste collection, wet-waste composting, transportation and scientific disposal, with particular emphasis on townships, markets, hotels, resorts, homestays, and other commercial establishments.
Emphasising that a cleaner Dibang Valley requires collective responsibility and coordinated action, the DC called upon all departments, local bodies, business establishments and communities to work together towards a robust and sustainable waste management system.
The meeting also discussed time-bound action plans, awareness initiatives, mapping of waste-generating establishments and improved coordination among line departments and stakeholders for effective implementation of the solid waste management rules.
