NEW DELHI, 18 May: Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik expressed concern over the challenges posed by porous stretches along the eastern border in Arunachal and emphasised the importance of strengthening border management and infrastructure.
The governor apprised Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan of his concerns regarding the prevailing security situation and the level of preparedness along the international border, while sharing his observations from his recent visits to remote border areas in Arunachal, during a meeting here on Monday.
During the meeting, they discussed national security issues, with special focus on Arunachal, including border security, the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP), and the implementation of goodwill projects in frontier areas.
The governor lauded the role of the armed forces in Arunachal for maintaining close coordination with the state government.
“The strong civil-military partnership has significantly contributed to the development of frontier villages, ensuring that security and progress move forward together,” he said.
The governor also commended the 3 Corps and the 4 Corps for their continued efforts in strengthening civil-military relations through regular interactions, community outreach programmes, and goodwill initiatives aimed at supporting the people living in remote border areas. (Lok Bhavan)
