NEW DELHI, 3 Sep: Arunachal Pradesh PHE Minister Mama Natung reiterated Arunachal's commitment towards ensuring safe, sustainable and reliable drinking water facilities, particularly for communities living in remote and difficult-to-reach areas, during a two-day 'National Departmental Summit on Water', organised by the Union Jal ShaktiMinistry here from 1-2 September.

Natung lauded the Jal Shakti Ministry for providing an important platform for dialogue and cooperative action between the Centre and the states.

The summit brought together ministers and senior officials from states and union territories to deliberate on key aspects of water security, drinking water, sanitation, and sustainable water management.

The valedictory session was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who emphasised on continuous review and follow-up of the actionable outcomes of the summit. He called for greater jan bhagidari in water conservation, wider adoption of water-saving technologies, robust water data governance, use of AI for water management, and sustainable planning to address future water challenges.

Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil highlighted key priorities, including accelerated completion of water infrastructure projects, strengthening water conservation as a people's movement, ensuring sustainability of drinking-water sources, and improving the operation and maintenance of rural drinking water schemes.

The summit marked an important step towards strengthening the spirit of 'Team India' and advancing collective efforts to achieve long-term water security for the nation.
