DAPORIJO, 4 Sep: Progressive farmer Karsi Kurdu of Yekar village in Upper Subansiri district has been promoting agriculture and horticulture activities in the village, focusing on the cultivation of banana, pineapple and orange plantations.

Kurdu has been engaged in farming with the aim of increasing agricultural and horticultural production in the area. His farm includes banana and pineapple cultivation, along with orange plantations, demonstrating the potential for diversified farming in the region.

According to Kurdu, his agricultural and horticultural produce is being supplied to different towns in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, providing a market beyond the village and contributing to local livelihood generation.

However, Kurdu has appealed to the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to visit his farm and provide technical guidance, expert advice and necessary support to further improve production, quality and productivity.

He expressed hope that regular technical assistance from the departments would help farmers adopt improved cultivation practices and explore better market opportunities for their produce.

The initiative of progressive farmers like Kurdu highlights the potential of agriculture and horticulture as sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural Arunachal.
