RONO HILLS, 29 May: The first batch of 18 BSc zoology students of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) here will undergo their summer internship at six reputed institutions across Arunachal Pradesh.

Prior to their departure, RGU’s zoology department organised an orientation programme for the summer internship of the first batch of BSc zoology students under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on Friday.
The programme marks a significant milestone for the department as the first group of undergraduate zoology students embark on internships as an integral component of the NEP 2020 curriculum, aimed at promoting experiential learning and skill development.
The orientation programme was coordinated by Dr Jacob Ngukir, with the support of Dr KrishnakshiMisra, Dr Hage Assung, and Dr Abprez T Kimsing.
Faculty members briefed the students on the objectives, expectations, and professional responsibilities associated with the internship programme.
Addressing the gathering, Zoology HoD Prof DN Das spoke on the value and significance of being a zoologist, and emphasised the importance of internships in the modern competitive world.
He encouraged the students to utilise the opportunity to gain practical knowledge, professional exposure, and field experience beyond classroom learning.
The internship programme is expected to provide students with hands-on experience in wildlife research, biodiversity conservation, aquaculture, traditional medicine, animal health, and public health sectors. It will also help bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application, thereby enhancing the students’ employability and professional competence.
