NAHARLAGUN, 13 Jun: To mark the World Environment Day 2026, the Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG), Arunachal Pradesh, organised an Ashoka tree plantation drive at the BSG headquarters in Polo Colony here on Saturday.
The programme was originally scheduled for 5 June. However, due to the bandh call in the Itanagar Capital Region, it was postponed and subsequently conducted on 13 June.
The plantation drive was carried out under the guidance of State Training Commissioner (Guides) Kempi Pakam, and witnessed the participation of “members of the state Scout & Guide Fellowship (SGF), scouts, guides, rovers, and rangers,” the BSG informed in a release.
Ashoka saplings were planted within the headquarters premises to promote environmental awareness and encourage collective responsibility towards nature conservation.
Pakam highlighted the importance of tree plantation in maintaining ecological balance and creating a greener future.
The BSG expressed gratitude to the Forest Department, Naharlagun, for providing the saplings and supporting the initiative.
The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to continue promoting environmental conservation through plantation and community service activities.
