ZIRO, 19 May: Eingko Foundation conducted a story reading session under Project Purisa at its office-cum-library in Lempia here in Lower Subansiri district on Tuesday.

Eingko Foundation’s founder Tage Onia informed that the session was organised to inculcate the reading habit among schoolchildren, “as nowadays many children are becoming more dependent on the internet and mobile phones and gradually moving away from reading books.”

She said that such sessions would help improve reading skills, especially among students of government schools.

Attending the programme as the resource person, District Trade Development Officer Tai Arun conducted an engaging reading session, during which he read selected chapters from Wings of Fire, the autobiography of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

During his interaction with the children, he narrated the inspiring journey of Dr Kalam, who rose from a humble family background in a village in Tamil Nadu to become India’s renowned ‘Missile Man’ and later the president of India.

Through stories from Kalam’s childhood and struggles, he encouraged the children to remain honest, self-disciplined, and hardworking in order to achieve success in life.

He also motivated the children with Dr Kalam’s famous message: “Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action.” He also donated inspiring books to the library run by Eingko Foundation.

Many schoolchildren and volunteers of Eingko Foundation participated in the story reading session.(DIPRO)
