DOIMUKH, 30 Oct: Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Gabriel D Wangsu on Friday inaugurated M/s Rongoge animal feed plant, operating under the brand name 'Green Gold Feed', here in Papum Pare district, and described the facility as a "historic milestone for Arunachal Pradesh and an important step towards strengthening the livestock and fisheries sectors in the state."

Addressing the gathering, Wangsu congratulated the promoter, Likha Maj, for taking an initiative beyond conventional business ventures and pursuing the project despite numerous challenges. He said that establishing such a facility requires vision, commitment and the courage to venture into an area with considerable potential for the state's agricultural economy.

Wangsu observed that the animal husbandry sector in Arunachal is "poised for a major transformation," and expressed confidence that the new plant would make a meaningful contribution to this emerging growth.

Explaining the importance of animal feed in agricultural development, the minister said that "breed, seed and feed are the three essential pillars of a successful farming system. The neglect of any one of these components could affect the entire production chain and limit farmers' income."

He pointed out that lack of technical knowledge among farmers about livestock nutrition and the use of quality feed directly affects animal growth, milk yield, meat production, poultry performance and fish growth.

"Ultimately, these shortcomings translate into lower productivity and reduced returns for farmers," Wangsu said.

The minister noted that access to quality animal feed remains a major challenge in the Northeast, making the establishment of the Doimukh plant significant not only for Arunachal but also for the wider region. He expressed hope that the facility would help improve the availability of quality feed and support the expansion of commercial livestock and fisheries activities.

Wangsu also urged the management to maintain high standards in production and continue manufacturing feed free from urea, describing it as a healthier option for livestock. He said quality and consistency would be essential for building farmers' confidence and establishing the plant as a reliable source of animal feed.

Industries Minister Nyato Dukam, who also attended the programme, appreciated the promoter's initiative and described the plant as more than a business establishment, calling it "a form of social service with the potential to benefit the farming community."

He assured that the government would extend all possible support for the growth and development of the unit.

The inaugural programme was attended by the Itanagar deputy commissioner, Naharlagun superintendent of police, director of AHV&DD, senior government officers, representatives of M/s Rongoge animal feed plant, and local farmers.
