ITANAGAR, 10 Aug: Ziro Royal Enfielders (ZRE), a motorcycle club from Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, donated clothes and essential grocery items to Deepak Nabam Living Home in Senki Park here on Monday.

ZRE club chief Nending Ommo said that the initiative was a continuation of the club's recent relief effort for flood-affected people in Sivasagar, Assam.

"Today's charity at Deepak Nabam Living Home is a continuation of our Assam flood-relief initiative. We received an overwhelming response to our collection drive in Ziro and Itanagar on 29 and 30 July, respectively, and transported four truckloads of relief materials to Sivasagar. Some materials, however, could not be sent due to limited vehicle space," Ommo said.

"Instead of allowing the remaining materials to lie unused, we decided to donate them to Deepak Nabam Living Home. We also added essential groceries to the clothes and other materials.

We are happy that the generosity of our donors could reach another deserving place," Ommo added.

ZRE vice chief Hage Duyu said the visit also gave the members an opportunity to understand the remarkable work being carried out by Deepak Nabam and his team.

He added that witnessing the residents and the work being done for their care left a deep impression on the visiting members.

Deepak Nabam, chairman of the halfway home, thanked the ZRE team for the gesture, and said that such visits mean much more to the residents than material assistance alone.

He invited the riders to visit the halfway home again, emphasising that interaction with visitors brings happiness and a sense of belonging to many of its residents.

During the visit, the team members interacted with the residents.

The ZRE team included members Tasso Yassung Nending and Millo Yapa.
