ZIRO, 12 Jul: In an effort to transform Bamin Michi into a clean, sustainable, and visitor-friendly tourist destination, the Bamin Michi Tourism Promotion Committee (BMTPC) organised a ‘cleanliness-drive-cum awareness programme’ at Bamin Michi here in Lower Subansiri district on Saturday.

The programme was part of a comprehensive year-long cleanliness and awareness campaign. The initiative aims to foster lasting behavioural and mindset changes among villagers towards cleanliness, waste management, and environmental conservation.

The campaign commenced a few weeks ago with an extensive door-to-door outreach programme, during which volunteers visited every household to secure public pledges for maintaining clean homes and surroundings.

This was followed by a series of mass meetings, sensitising residents to their crucial role in building a successful tourist village.

The event focused on cleaning public spaces while reinforcing the message that cleanliness is a shared, everyday responsibility and a cornerstone of sustainable tourism.

Addressing the gathering, BMTPC general secretary Michi Byai emphasised that the day’s programme marked “not the end but the beginning of a sustained movement.”

The committee reaffirmed its commitment to carrying the campaign forward through continuous awareness programmes, community participation, and collective action in the coming months.

This initiative forms part of the BMTPC’s broader vision to position Bamin Michi as an ideal tourist village where natural beauty, cultural heritage, and community responsibility converge to offer an unforgettable experience for visitors.
