ZIRO, 13 Aug: A 'cleanliness-cum-pencil pine plantation drive' was conducted on Thursday at Biiri Model Village here in Lower Subansiri district under the leadership of ZPM Leegang Tatang and Biiri Welfare Committee (BWC) chairman Liagi Tacho.
The programme was initiated by BWC secretary Ligang Tamang, with support from BWC social service secretary Tage B Laling, and witnessed the participation of the villagers.
The main objective of the programme was to promote village cleanliness, environmental conservation, plantation, and community responsibility. As part of the initiative, the villagers participated in a cleanliness drive and planted pencil pine cypress trees at different locations in and around the village.
Speaking through their collective action, the villagers emphasised that development is not limited to infrastructure alone but also includes maintaining a clean, green, healthy, and sustainable environment.
The plantation drive is expected to contribute towards enhancing the natural beauty of the village and creating a greener environment for future generations.
The initiative also reflected the commitment of the village leadership and the community towards building a better and brighter future for Biiri Model Village. The active involvement of the villagers demonstrated a strong sense of unity, social responsibility, and community spirit.
