NAMSAI, 8 Aug: A green skill development programme (GSDP) course on 'Waste Optimisation Professional', supported by the EIACP PC Hub of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change and the state Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Department, got underway at the Arunachal University of Studies (AUS) here on Saturday.
The 570-hour training programme, comprising both theoretical sessions and hands-on training, is designed to develop professionals capable of optimising waste, thereby reducing waste generation and channelling it into productive areas.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA)Chairman Dr Unnamatla Prakasham, retired IFS officer Tapu Gapak, and State Expert Appraisal Committee Chairman Dr Prakash Nageshrao Thirumali, among others.
Addressing the participants, AUS Vice-Chancellor Prof Ajeya Jha shared his insights on the importance of waste optimisation in environmental sustainability.
Dr Thirumali in his address informed the participantsabout the importance of environmental responsibility and the role of skilled human resources in supporting sustainable development and environmental governance.
Environment Director D Dohu Robin delivered a special address, emphasising the need for greater awareness and professional capacity in the field of environmental protection and sustainable waste management.
EIACP PC Hub Programme Officer Dr Anjan Chamuah introduced the objectives and structure of the 'Waste Optimisation Professional' course.
AUS Joint Registrar Vipin Rawat delivered a presentation highlighting the GSDP trainings previously conducted by the AUS, outlining their outcomes and key learning objectives.
