ITANAGAR, 24 Jun: Governor K.T Parnaik called for an impartial inquiry into the ‘rowdyism, threats, coercion and intimidation’ of the NERIST director, terming it a bad example for youth.

During a meeting with home minister Mama Natung at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday, the governor discussed  the prevailing law and order situation in the state, with specific focus on the recent incident at the NERIST.

Expressing deep concern over the unfortunate developments in the institute, Parnaik emphasized that educational institutions must remain safe, secure, and conducive to learning.

He also underscored the responsibility of all stakeholders to safeguard the sanctity and reputation of educational establishments across the state.

Highlighting the importance of effective institutional governance, the Governor stated that the management and administration of educational institutions should be guided by merit, integrity, dignity, discipline, transparency, and accountability.

He further stressed that any act that undermines the functioning, credibility, or harmony of educational institutions must be dealt with firmly and in accordance with the law to reinforce public confidence in the state’s educational ecosystem.

The home minister assured the governor that the state government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and will investigate the matter and take appropriate action against those found responsible.

Natung reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting educational institutions, and ensuring a secure environment for students, teachers, and staff across Arunachal Pradesh.  (Lok Bhavan)
