ITANAGAR, 4 Jun: All the junior engineers under the Itanagar Public Health Engineering & Water Supply (PHE&WS) Division are fully prepared to tackle any challenge related to water supply during the monsoon session, said and official report.
They have been instructed to remain vigilant and proactive in their respective areas of responsibility, the report said.
In its monsoon preparedness report to Itanagar Capital Region Deputy Commissioner-cum-DDMA,the Itanagar PHED&WS Division further said that all the pipelines, especially vulnerable main pipes, have been inspected and repaired wherever leakages or damages were found.
“The requisite chlorination arrangements or processes are already installed at all the water treatment plants in the urban areas for ensuring safe drinking water by the department and the responsibility of chlorination in the rural areas or villages under the division restswith the Village Water and Sanitation Committees),” the report said.
The office of the Itanagar PHED&WS executive engineer in its report informed that a workforce comprising skilled technicians and support staff is fully prepared, and machinery has been put in place to respond swiftly to any emergency that may arise during the monsoon season in urban as well as rural areas under the jurisdiction of the Itanagar division.
Two water tankers have been “strategically stationed”to provide immediate assistance in case of water supply disruptions due to heavy rainfall or any other unforeseen circumstances, the report said.
The report also provided the contact numbers of the officials for emergencies during the monsoon.
