Arunachal Pradesh’ athletes continue to shine in individual sports, achieving remarkable success on the international stage across multiple disciplines. Kentu Lap secured a historic bronze medal in the Under-60 kg category at the Asian Junior Judo Championship held in Amman, Jordan, while Khyoda Talik clinched gold medals in both the men’s individual kata and team kata events at the South Asian Karate Championship in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Johny Mangkhiya delivered an outstanding performance at the same championship, winning two silver medals in the +68 kg female kumite and female team kumite categories. In ju-jitsu, Langkung Rade captured a landmark bronze medal in the men’s -69 kg fighting category at the Ju-Jitsu World Championship in Greece, marking a significant achievement for India’s martial arts contingent.

Tingong Wangpan was formally selected by the Paralympic Committee of India after an impressive performance in the selection trials to represent the country in the men’s T35 200m and 400m sprint events at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Mexico. Adding to the state’s growing legacy in combat sports, Arunachal’s mixed martial arts star Sonam Zomba became the inaugural Karma Fight League (KFL) world strawweight champion.

These achievements have drawn renewed attention to the need for greater encouragement, improved sporting infrastructure, and sustained institutional support, as Arunachal’s athletes have repeatedly demonstrated that talent is not in short supply.
