DAPORIJO, 26 Jun: In a remarkable community-driven initiative, the villagers, School Management Committee (SMC), alumni, and village panchayat leaders have unanimously resolved to revive the Bui Upper Primary School in Gusar circle of Upper Subansiri district.

The school had remained defunct for several years due to the absence of student enrolment.

The academic session is set to commence soon, with the SMC announcing that education will be provided free of cost to all enrolled students.

The decision to reopen the school gained momentum after Dumporijo MLA Rode Bui emphasised that education must be given the highest priority as it builds human resources and shapes a better future.

Stressing that “charity begins at home,” the MLA expressed his determination to revive the school in his own village as an example for others to follow.

The revival initiative is being spearheaded by distinguished alumni, including retired executive engineer Rosuk Bui, Dr Molar Bui, and noted intellectual Payo Bui, along with other community members.

The SMC has appealed to parents and guardians from Bui and neighbouring villages to enrol their children at the school. The admission process is scheduled to begin in the first week of July.

According to the SMC, the government will continue to provide basic facilities to the school as per existing norms. However, any additional requirements related to infrastructure, teaching materials, or other academic needs will be met by the committee and the local community through voluntary support.

To further strengthen the quality of education, the SMC has decided to engage private teachers to provide daily tuitions to students, ensuring better academic support and improved learning outcomes.

The revival of the Bui Upper Primary School is being seen as an inspiring example of community participation in strengthening the education sector, and may serve as a model for other villages facing similar challenges.
