YUPIA, 23 Jun: A review meeting of the District Task Force on Immunisation (DTFI) on routine immunisation, Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) and National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) was held at the DC office conference hallhere in Papum Pare district on Tuesday.
During the meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Health Society ChairmanLobsang Tsering, the preparedness and progress of immunisation activities in the district were reviewed.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that, while some targets may appear difficult at times, the district should focus on achieving the maximum possible coverage and results.
He said that the district has been performing relatively well in terms of health indicators and parameters, but stressed the need for proper tracking and monitoring, especially as Papum Pare shares a floating population with the capital region.
He also urged all facility in-charges to start working towards achieving NQAS certification for their respective health institutions.
District Medical Officer Dr Reena Ronya urged the medical officers (MOs) and the officers concerned to make proper use of ASHAs in spreading awareness on the importance of maternal health and regular antenatal check-ups during pregnancy.
She also suggested that ASHA review meetings be used as a platform for distribution of pregnancy kits to beneficiaries.
During the meeting, Dr Tomar Kamki delivered a presentation on the routine immunisation micro plan.
Various points related to immunisation coverage, validation of population data, tracking of pregnant women and children, and strengthening of ASHA activities were discussed in detail.
He further emphasised on preparation of annual routine immunisation micro plans with support from ASHAs and health facility planning units; monthly validation of ASHA registers; regular headcount surveys; counselling and orientation for quality antenatal care; quarterly Block Task Force for Immunisation meetings; and tracking of left-out and dropout children through the UWIN portal.
Further, Dr Tania Raju gave a presentation on quality assurance, and explained how health facilities can work towards achieving NQAS certification.
He informed that the Taraso PHC has received state quality certification, while the Soppo PHC has achieved national quality certification. Gumto has also received state certification, he informed.
Under the Kayakalp initiative, the Kimin CHC received the Kayakalp Award in 2025, while the Taraso PHC, the Soppo PHC, and Gumto received recommendation certificates.
Dr Tania Raju informed that the CHCs in Kimin, Sagalee, Basarnelo, Kakoi, Danka, Yupia and Ompuli have been identified as NQAS target health centres for the year 2025-26. He said that achieving national quality certification would require dedicated efforts from the MOs and the District Health Society.
As part of the meeting, VHAI district coordinator Tadar Hari delivered a presentation on LODOR. Representatives from WHO-NPSP also gave a presentation on the district RI micro-planning.
The meeting was attended by health officials, MOs, ASHA facilitators, and representatives from the WHO. (DIPR)
