YUPIA, 14 Jul: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) on Tuesday extended financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to support families affected by the recent flash floods in Hoj-Dakte villages in Toru circle of Papum Pare district.

The cheque was handed over to Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Lobsang Tsering by an NES delegation led by its general secretary Nabam Takar at the deputy commissioner’s office here.

Presenting the contribution, Takar lauded the district administration for its prompt and effective response to the disaster, and reiterated that the NES would continue to stand by the administration and the affected people during such challenging times.

The DC expressed gratitude to the NES for its generous gesture, and assured that the donated amount would be utilised judiciously and transparently for the welfare and rehabilitation of the flash flood-affected families in the Hoj-Dakte area.

The NES delegation also comprised finance secretary Rajesh Dawe, assistant secretary (coordination) Dr Bengia Tada, ICR secretary Techi Topu Tara, secretary (sports & youth affairs) Nabam Tarin, Papum Pare  district secretary Nabam Jallow, Papum Pare district chairman Akin Tana Tara, and office secretary Heri Aka.

It may be mentioned that the NES had earlier contributed Rs 20 lakh towards relief efforts for flood-affected people of Possa in Keyi Panyor district. (DIPRO)
