BASAR, 29 Aug: The Basar division of the Urban Affairs Department on Friday organised an avenue plantation drive at the material recovery facility (MRF) site on land reclaimed through comprehensive legacy waste remediation.
The plantation drive was conducted following the successful remediation of the legacy waste at the site, marking an important milestone in the efforts towards scientific waste management and restoration of degraded urban spaces.
During the inspection of the site, MLA Nyabi Jini Dirchi and DC Himani Meena commended the successful execution of the legacy waste remediation project and the initiative to transform the erstwhile waste-affected site into a greener and more sustainable urban space.
They also appealed to citizens to actively participate in responsible waste management and treat proper waste disposal and segregation as a collective civic responsibility.
The UD Department urged all residents to segregate waste at source before handing it over to sanitation personnel, and to pay user fees regularly, thereby supporting the continued operation and sustainability of waste management services.
ADC Tamo Riba, IAS probationer Aashta Singh, UD EE Nabam Kai and other officials of the departments concerned attended the programme. (DIPRO)
